Family Resource Center

My name is Erica Spencer, and I am excited to join the team as the new Family Engagement Specialist. As a Hampton native, I am passionate about serving the community that has always been home.

I am the proud mom of two amazing daughters, one who will be in 8th grade this school year and another who is a freshman at James Madison University. Being both a parent and working in education has given me a deep appreciation for the importance of strong partnerships between families, schools, and the community.

My professional background is in economic (business and workforce) development, community engagement, and partnership development, where I have had the privilege of connecting schools, businesses, organizations, and families to create meaningful opportunities for students. I look forward to bringing that experience to Smith and building strong relationships with our students, families, staff, and community partners.

My goal is to partner with staff to ensure every family feels welcomed, connected, informed, and supported throughout the school year.

Throughout the year, I will coordinate engaging opportunities that strengthen the partnership between families and our school, including themed Family Engagement Nights, parent workshops, volunteer opportunities, family celebrations, and events designed to increase student achievement and family involvement.
